Gender Organization

Gender and its role play a significant part in the workforce even though the past few decades have brought women into a mans workplace and men into women's workplace. Communicating with each other in the workplace is giving our culture our generation a chance to create better communication between both genders. Our workforce today's still has the gaps between men and women in the workforce but as we see today we are slowly bridging that gap. For Example the CEO of HP was a women and now Yahoo just named their new CEO a women, where a man who was the CEO step down. Gendered Organizations still provide the old fashion ways like social construction assumes women play more support roles and men to assume leadership roles. The pop culture plays a developing role in children in what they might to be when they grow up. It is the images, texts, music, television that we watch that creates our individual identity because we design our own identity. The pilots that portrayed being playboys, heavy drinkers, courageous and masculine men, boys envision themselves because they are creating their identity through the pop culture.

  1. I completely agree with your insights about gender related issues in the work place and organizations. I really enjoyed your post! I think that women who are beginning to lock up their roles as powerful and successful women can be bothersome to many. These conflicts arise when stereotypes about gender roles are placed on certain individuals, by creating a perception about them. I think both men and women can have the same positions and hold up to those positions with integrity, pride, and respect without the public excluding them from it. It can become very controversial when only one gender is worthy of possessing a certain quality when the other can not. We must be open about the authenticity each person has, by being accepting. This is where the roles of team work come into place because both genders can come together effectively to work as a team.
