Chapter 10

Competitive Strategy is crucial for the survival for any business to stay afloat in the competitive global market. I work at Trader Joes and our biggest competitor is Whole foods yet we still are growing faster then them and continue to have higher annual sales. Our goal as a company is to be a neighborhood grocery store. We do our own competitor analysis like buy fifty dollars at Nob Hill, Lunardis and whole foods and compare the prices to our products that are the same or similar and we beat all of our local grocery stores in value and quainty but it would be up to a neutral consumer to ovulate its quality with a non bias opinion. It is the company's responsibility to communicate the research to our consumer so they have honest and truthful information that why Trader Joes my be better for families because of our value compared to our competitors. I have seen some changes in Trader Joes that has made the business form to a more corporate structure which may be good but might not have the employee satisfaction they would anticipate. If the German owners decide to take the store public changes are under majority stockholders which tend not to are for the long time employee, Business is Business deal with it.

Democracy and Dialogue

In the past election Participatory democracy was American citizens choice to become more active in their role of government. Record turn out for voting in any American election and Americans across the nation felt the democracy of our election, it collected the common American for democracy and dialogue. The rest of the world had an impact on the outcome of election because it was other perspectives looking in on us because we still are the super power of the world and we value their opinion a form of democracy. The Dialogue that majority of America heard from President elect Obama is that government is the solution to fix our problems but its going to take substance change from American Citizens, and we will continue being the United States of America together. The Dialect from President elect Obama shows us that he is thinking, encourages disagreements to better analyze the problems from other perspectives, but he believes we can change America and still lead the world as a super power.
If Iraq can adapt to its changing government and sustain a balanced system like work, education, role of government, for its citizens they will maybe adapt for the better of their country.

Technology and Teams

The technology today has increased the flow of mass communication around the world which has changed how we communicate and changed our perspective. I am amazed at the number of people who subscribe to a cell phone 2.6 billion and 4 billion by 2010 is astonishing. I remember when my father had a huge 1980's cell phone and it was cool now the tool of a phone is an understatement. Our generation watched our technology innovate itself overnight with crazy ideas like email, text message, picture phones, Internet, and more i don't know about but they have created a link to the globe. I believe this connection of Technology and communication have increased the level of education but we have been losing substance because of the mass overload of information that is beat into the young generation. Some students are learning more effectively because of tools like video, power point, Internet resource it helps students learn through visual aids. This blog is a real communication process because I receive some form of feedback from other people who are in an organized group for a specific class. I am also receiving a grade which is a symbol which has an effect on me and my g.p.a.

Gender Organization

Gender and its role play a significant part in the workforce even though the past few decades have brought women into a mans workplace and men into women's workplace. Communicating with each other in the workplace is giving our culture our generation a chance to create better communication between both genders. Our workforce today's still has the gaps between men and women in the workforce but as we see today we are slowly bridging that gap. For Example the CEO of HP was a women and now Yahoo just named their new CEO a women, where a man who was the CEO step down. Gendered Organizations still provide the old fashion ways like social construction assumes women play more support roles and men to assume leadership roles. The pop culture plays a developing role in children in what they might to be when they grow up. It is the images, texts, music, television that we watch that creates our individual identity because we design our own identity. The pilots that portrayed being playboys, heavy drinkers, courageous and masculine men, boys envision themselves because they are creating their identity through the pop culture.

Chapter two

Organizational Communication is a way for people to accomplish goals whether it is in politics, education, business, war, and much more. Communication as information transfer is how a person transfers information to another person, for example a father teaching his son how to drive a manual car if the information is understood and helpful the transfer was a success. The approach on balance of creativity and constraint is very complex because their are so many elements that effect how communication is balanced between individuals. The context that I got from this approach was that my creativity is balanced because of the constraints of society.

Chapter 1

The overview that I got from chapter one was the introduction to how communication is developed through many strands of organizations in our society. The fact that globalization is changing how the world works is relevent to America and to the fast developing countries because it changes how we think, do business, and live. The chapter talks about primitive nature that humans need each other to survive and the global economy, our American economy, relies on the world citizens, once again we need each other to survive. People live through organized structures through many forms in our society, which is so diverse and it creates good or bad communication between humans on common grounds.
